[Re]coding the City: A Festival of Time | Athens, Greece

‘[Re]coding the City in A Festival of Time’, the Athenian landscape is reimagined through the lens of Chronotope, a theoretical framework that illuminates the inseparable relationship between space and time. Drawing inspiration from the challenge of representing the materialization of time’s ‘thickening’, the notion of temporal manipulation is experimented with as a catalyst for a variety of programmatic responses. In a modern society where physical spaces are imbued with the subjective perceptions of their users, the thesis aims to reclaim lost time and wasted moments by displacing temporal boundaries and creating new time fields within the Athenian cityscape. Where time and space intertwine, and the city of Athens undergoes a metamorphosis unlike any other, come along as the city is [re]coded, one moment at a time…
