Ireland House | Tokyo, Japan
DeEchoing the ethereal visual environment of traditional Japanese paintings, the proposal suggests a similar delimiting of boundaries across space. Our proposal gestures both outwards and inwards – providing a series of ‘New Natures’ in the form of hybrid spatial types (garden-room, city-garden etc.). Towards the city, its external form dissolves in such a way as to become an act of welcoming – that is reinforced by the extension of the city underneath the main event space in the form of a new city garden. In both formal and personal modes, it extends the importance of International dialogue - providing a range of spaces that incrementally subtly interact and increasing the strength of relations between Ireland and Japan.
